10 Easy Steps to an Everyday Makeup Look

Alarm goes off, hit snooze. Alarm no. 2 goes off, hit snooze again (cause what’s 10 more mins). Your final alarm turns on and you know hitting snooze again will cost ya so you push through and take your happy ass out of bed.

I know with all the other duties that must be done before heading out to take on the day, squeezing in some time for makeup is usually zero to none. However ladies, putting in some effort won’t hurt. People often ask me “how do you find the time?”. Well, here are some quick steps on how YOU too can manage fresh and effortless makeup while still looking naturally beautiful!

After washing and moisturizing your face, first things first! Clip those hairs out of your face and pick a liquid or powder foundation with the coverage of your liking to even out your skin. My go-to is COVERGIRL’S Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation because of the amazing coverage and lasting power.

I use the shade “Soft Honey” and it does a great job of evening out my skin, helping me avoid an extra step which is concealer. If you do suffer from dark under-eye circles or spots, go ahead and brighten up the necessary areas with your concealer of preference.

Being the oily monster that I am, setting my foundation with a powder is always a must! If you are one of the lucky ones, skip this step. The Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder does a great job of taking care of this little problem for me. Try using a similar loose powder to set your foundation/concealer, as it avoids makeup from looking caky and feeling heavy. A soft brush like this one from Real Techniques picks up powder perfectly!

Next up is the fun part, adding some color back into your face. I like to lightly bronze around my forehead, cheeks, and neck. No crazy contour for me (if that’s what you like go right ahead), but I like to keep it quick and simple.

Bronzer adds a nice golden glow to the face and helps re-define your face-shape. Recently, I have been gravitating towards my NARS Bronzing Powder in “Laguna”. The NYC Smooth Bronzer in “Sunny” is also a great, affordable option (hurry it is being discontinued). BTW, this old BH Cosmetics Powder Brush broke recently lol :(.

My choice of blush varies each day, depending on the lip color I feel like going for. But, a nice coral blush like “Luminoso” from Milani adds a gorgeous, natural pop of pink on the cheeks. Start by patting the blush on the apples of your cheeks, smirk a bit, and lightly move up & down in circular motions. This helps to lightly blend the blush pigment evenly and a great brush is Sigma’s “F40” Large Angled Contour Brush.

The key to makeup is blending, blending, BLENDING! Blend everything with a fluffy Duo Fiber Stippling Brush like this one from Coastal Scents.

The face is not complete without filling/shaping those brows. Brow gel is such a convenient way of doing the job for you. I know brows are everything, but FYI they don’t have to be perfect 😉 The Benefit Gimme Brow-Volumizing Fiber Gel is hands-down my favorite! I use the color “Medium/Deep”.

Applying a neutral eyeshadow can transform your makeup look even more, as it’ll add more dimension to your eye shape. The choice of eyeshadow also varies for me, but since I was sticking to more natural colors a nice matte brown was the way to go.

Here I am applying the color “Naked” x Urban Decay all over my lid with Sigma’s “E25 Blending Brush”.

We’re almost there!… I love adding a little highlight on my brow bone with Chella’s Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil (you can use a cream-colored eyeshadow/shadow stick). This step pretty much finalizes your brow shape and brightens the area.

Before tight-lining & mascara on the left vs. completed eye on the right. Need I say more? Lol! Tight-lining the eyes with a waterproof eyeliner helps your lashes look a lot fuller. The Larger Than Life Eyeliner x NARS in “Via Veneto” is my holy grail!

A voluminous mascara is your best bet, making your lashes bold and eyes looking big & open. Of course, the COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Mascara takes the prize here!

The final step to completing your everyday makeup look is applying color to those lips. To compliment this natural look, I opted for a subtle coral-nude lip such as “Descanso” (limited edition) NARS Satin Lip Pencil (similar here).

That wasn’t TOO bad now, was it? 10 simple steps you could easily squeeze into your morning routine that can take 10-12 minutes (max!) plus, I’m big on multi-tasking. What are some products you use to accomplish your everyday effortless makeup look?

Stay beautiful, motivated, & always effortless!
