After sticking to the same everyday beauty routine for a few months now, I recently AND unexpectedly came across a new beauty gem that has officially replaced my go-to foundation. When it comes to drugstore beauty, CoverGirl always sets the bar high for me particularly with their foundations and mascaras. It’s safe to say their new Clean Matte BB Cream has become an everyday favorite.

The name of this BB Cream says it all; matte. I was a bit skeptical at first but the claim of being a matte bb cream opened up my curiosity. I decided to try it as my experiences with CoverGirl face products have always been positive. Firstly, the coverage is impeccable! I use the shade Light/Medium and it provides a medium-to-full coverage, extremely buildable (without looking caky), and easy to apply. I’ve used 3 different application methods with this bb cream: a face brush, beauty sponge, and my fingers and the end result is always the same — flawless.
The staying power is incredible, again very mind-blowing because it is technically a bb cream and not a foundation. Even though it is long-wearing, it never feels heavy on the skin and it does not sink into my pores. Wearing a face primer underneath provides a smoother application, but I find it isn’t a must. This CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream really is matte and controls my shiny oily-prone skin.
After a few bad (and embarrassing) experiences where I’ve hugged someone and my makeup has transferred on their shirt — this was not the case with a recent encounter *woo hoo*. The bb cream truly has the coverage and longevity of a matte foundation and am obsessed with wearing it for any and every occasion. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly and effective matte face product, this one is right up your alley!
