We hear the expression “healthy skin” always enforced and, you guessed it, for great reason. Skin/body care should be on everyone’s radar and a major priority because as you know, it is the base of our exterior. If it’s good on the inside it reflects on the outside! With a little added effort and extra dedication, a simple homemade body butter can make all the difference.

Natural Organic DIY Body Butter

Inspired by Nikisha Brunson’s whipped body butter recipe, here’s a breakdown of everything I used and how to make my own — despite my clumsy DIY ways:

1/4 cup unrefined Shea Butter

1/4 cup Almond Oil

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

1/2 teaspoon Jasmine Essential Oil (optional)

Melt, Mix, Cool

Add water to a small saucepan (about half-way) and bring to a boil.

While that’s heating up, pour your Shea butter, coconut & almond oils into a glass or metal bowl. Once the water comes to a boil, simply place your bowl of ingredients over the saucepan, grab a whisk and lightly mix to help melt the butter & oils.

*Do not over heat*

Very important! This will diminish the natural properties of the Shea butter and oils. Remove immediately from the heat when completely melted. Now for cooling, you want to use a pot holder (to avoid any damages) place your bowl on top of it, leaving it inside your fridge to cool for 2 hours or until solid.

Whip it & Store it

Hours later and you’ve got a solid funky looking mixture but don’t worry it’s all part of it!

Grab a mixer, set to a medium speed (#3) and let the mixing begin. It’s going to resemble Cool Whip and I’m sure you’ll be tempted to lick it but don’t lol — instead keep mixing for 6-8 minutes. At this point, if a scent is important to you go ahead and pour your preferred essential oil. To keep the Spring vibes alive, consider using a floral essential oil such as rose or jasmine. Just 2 more minutes of mixing and you’ve officially made your own body butter! Use a container of your choice to store.

How to DIY a Natural Organic Whipped Body Butter for Healthy Glowing Skin

Lather

After a long hot shower, pamper yourself by lathering in body butter! Applying before bed is the absolute best as it helps to relax your muscles and sinks deeply into your skin. You may feel a little oily at first, just enjoy the glow in a cozy robe and let the magic happen. All ingredients are of course 100% organic, natural, and unprocessed. Consistent use of a natural body butter will surely maintain your skin healthy and moisturized — seriously, it doesn’t get much better.
