Everything I’m touching base on in today’s post is the complete opposite of what my usual makeup routine consisted of. Naturally, I have oily skin and setting my entire face with powder was a no-brainer — until this summer. After vacationing in a humid climate in the month of June and being that I live in humid-muggy Miami, I decided early on to embrace the oiliness without prepping my skin with primer or setting my makeup with powder. I know, crazy right? How dare I? Turns out actually, the dewy look grew on me rather quickly.
It’s been a H-O-T summer, whether you live in a dry or humid climate, the heat is pretty intense everywhere. So let’s say you set your foundation (or bb/cc cream), you step outside and within minutes of exposing yourself the sweat begins to build up around your hairline & forehead. Am I right? Then slowly, sweat trickles down the face — popping up above your upper lip, cheeks, and neck. This is when I go about annoyingly patting my face.
It quickly irks me after the thorough time invested in makeup application just to have everything cake-up. So, I threw in the towel and decided patchy powder and creased concealer no more! After my moisturizer sinks into my skin, I spritz some Luminance Rosewater Toner and directly apply my summer-go-to Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation. Opting for a lighter foundation in consistency or bb/cc cream for summer makes it easier to manage if you’re not using a product to set it.
The same applies with concealer, I dab some lightly and let it be. I’ve incorporated a new step since embracing my oily skin — using a liquid highlight! It truly makes all the difference when applying directly over foundation and gives your makeup a healthy, dewy glow. I keep a small packet of blotting sheets on the go just in case. Welcome your natural oils and allow your face to feel lighter without clogging your pores. Worry no more about foundation & sweat staining your top either!
