2014 | Looking Back One Sip at a Time

Just like that, this year has come to it’s end. 2014 was a challenging one and to be honest a bad trip at times. I learned things about myself I thought I already knew, accepted the situations and things I had no control over, not to mention making certain life changing decisions. I’ve grown much more this year alone than ever before. Looking back, I can’t believe how much has happened and yet I managed to accomplish plenty. The beginning was a fun ride but as time passed, the more I came to the realization of where my life was headed. I found myself settling, unhappy, lost my motivation, and the list goes on. One of the most important lessons was figuring out what made me happy. It was almost like being in a room full of mirrors without an exit sign. I had no other choice but to look deep down inside and handle my shit or continue to be that bitter-sappy bitch. As things began to fall into place, others started to notice the change in me and I knew there & then I was headed in the right direction.

When crossing the street you have to look both ways and make sure the coast is clear in order to make it to the other side. Choosing the “right path” is the same. Weigh your pros and cons and take that leap of faith.

Life shouldn’t be so black and white. You owe it to yourself to have fun, laugh, and live! Sure, structure is great and extremely necessary, but for your sanity add some life and color. Enjoy life and don’t be afraid to not be so put together all the time. Let things get messy, it’s what helps us grow and learn. Embrace it. Love. Travel. Burp & fart, who cares. Live life the way YOU want to!
I wish everyone a Happy & Prosperous New Year! May 2015 bring you happiness, health, and new experiences!!!

Lipstick Faves | Holiday Reds!

The holidays are literally upon us and guess what?….I still don’t know what to wear! *womp*
Red is a staple color during the holidays, but choosing the perfect red lipstick can be a little tricky sometimes. Maybe you want a bright red, or a darker one, or perhaps matte? Sooo many options! It can get stressful at times lol. Picking the “right” red is a little challenging because some reds pair nicely with certain eye looks and outfits. Other times, the red can be too strong for the look you are achieving and can totally throw it off.
I have narrowed it down to my top 3 red lipsticks for the holidays. Each one has a different undertone and finish, making it easier to narrow down.
Avon Rich Ruby, Rimmel London Diva Red, MAC Dubonnet
“Rich Ruby” is a red with a blue undertone and a matte finish. This is the best dupe out there for MAC’s “Ruby Woo”. The matte on this lipstick isn’t overly drying (I HATE those!). The blue undertone is great at making your teeth look extra pearly white. I would say pair it with black, white, or ivory attire.
Diva Red is a little bit more than the basic. It is a true deep red and it looks gorgeous paired with pretty much anything. It containing some sheen/gloss and keeps your lips moisturized and maintains it’s color throughout the day.
“Dubonnet” is a bolder, darker shade of red with a hint of mahogany. This one has a more sophisticated, elegant feel to it. I recommend pairing it with neutral makeup (skip the liner), a volumizing mascara, and focusing on wearing colors like ivory, cream, white, or gold. Dubonnet is an amplified creme, meaning it has the creamy finish minus the sheen/gloss.
On my lips: “Diva Red
I love the combo of ivory, gold, and red.
Screams H O L I D A Y S!

I love that any eye look goes perfectly with each of these shades. Personally, I go the classic route with some winged liner and bronzer because I just love my lips being the main focus. Grab yourself one of these babies for Noche Buena aka Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day and get into the spirit!

Wishing you all Happy Holidays and lots and lots of l-o-v-e!

Fall Lipstick Faves ❤

Fall is probably my favorite season when it comes to fashion & beauty. Normally I turn to mauves, browns, & berry shades which are popular during the season. I wanted to share some gorgeous lipsticks that are not only great additions to your makeup collection but perfect for fall! What I love most about all of these is that they can be worn for a daytime or evening look. There might be just one that’s a little daring for the day, but why not?! Own it! Here are the 5 Fall Lipstick Must-Haves!

  • Nōyah “Deeply in Mauve: I received this cute little lipstick in my Ipsy Glam Bag and I haven’t been able to put it down. It is a rich mauve color with a nice creamy finish (not glossy). This is a great everyday color if you like a subtle lip. After 2 applications, it turns into a deep mauve on me.
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in “Sassy Mauve: this is a beautiful mauve color with more of a purple undertone. Depending on your skin complexion, the color can look a little pinkish or have more hints of purple. This lipstick has a sheen to it which means there’s a bit of frost (tiny bit) with a creamy finish.
  • Milani Color Statement Lipstick in “Black Cherry: I had been wanting to get my hands on this particular color for sooo long! It is truly stunning! (Check out my Funkshion post below to see pics on how to wear for a night out). This is a deep berry, perfect for days you are feeling bold. If you have trouble working with rich dark colors like this one, I highly suggest using a lip liner first. Black Cherry also has a nice creamy finish (no sheen/gloss)
  • MAC “Cherish: a gorgeous nude-brown that I’ve raved about for years. If you stay away from nude lipsticks because they wash you out, this is the nude for you! Goes great with any look because it is nude enough to keep your lips looking alive. This is a satin lipstick but I recommend dabbing some lip balm before applying to avoid drying.
  • MAC “Rebel: if you haven’t swatched this color before….I’m not sure what you are waiting for! Really? This is a beautiful berry/pink lipstick shade with a satin finish as well. I find that on me it leaves a glossy finish and it looks more like a deep fuschia if I’m on the tanner side. I have worn this color when I was a bit lighter in complexion and the color looked like a dark plum (weird..I know). Using a lip liner before is highly suggested.
