How to Layer a Floral Maxi Dress | London Fashion Week Day 1

London Fashion Week Plus Size Fashion featuring Forever 21 Plus Size Floral Maxi Dress ASOS Curve Turtleneck Leggings and Sam Edelman Booties

If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram feed or Snapchat, this “surprise” won’t be much of a surprise to you. In case you’re not sure what it is I am referring to, I’ve been keeping a little (ok, a BIG) secret for TWO months and finally announced the amazing news the day of through my social media.

Recently, I made a pretty impulsive decision. One that I knew would change my life, career, and perspective indefinitely. Experiencing fashion week has been a lifelong dream of mine, along with traveling alone at least once in my life. One night at about 3-something a.m., being the night owl that I am I began to browse the web for flights as getting away seemed like the right thing to do. With fashion week around the corner, going to New York was cutting it too close from the night I was doing this little research, so I thought “Which city showcases fashion week shortly after NYFW?”. Not even an hour after switching back and forth from tab to tab, I checked my bank account to reassure I had the proper funds and booked a flight to London.

Ponchos for Fall

What’s trendier than a kimono this season? You guessed it, a poncho. Ponchos have made a big comeback for the Fall and I’m loving it! We’re seeing them in different styles, prints (a lot of tribal), fabrics, and colors for every liking. I gravitated towards this neutral poncho to have endless styling options, and what I love most is how light the fabric is.

I kept it simple and wore a white crop top under the poncho and paired them with high-waisted jeans. I had to throw in a little heel, so these peep-toe booties from Nine West were a great option. My outfit wouldn’t be complete without oversized accessories, like this ring and cuff with gold detailing.

Ponchos are perfect for any occasion and very easy to transition from day to evening attire. Stay cozy this Fall with something other than your basic cardigan!

Florals + Dedications

The weather is finally changing a bit here in Miami and it couldn’t make me any happier. I know what you’re probably thinking though, “Another kimono?”. The answer is yes.. I can’t help it! If I could live in kimono cardigans year-long I would! This particular one was a steal at TJ Maxx, I love random finds 🙂

Kimonos are an easy way of dressing up an outfit or how I like to say, they add some character. The fringe detail on the trim makes this a perfect staple for Fall because it gives the right amount of coverage for breezy days like this particular afternoon. And if you haven’t caught on by now, fringe is one of the top trends this season.

I decided to keep it simple since the kimono has an all around beautiful floral print and wear it over a plain gray tank. I love mixing fabrics so I decided to pair with my fave lace shorts and tucked-in my top. Adding a pair of faux leather booties like these makes for an edgier Fall attire.

On the day these pictures were taken, my family received the news that my uncle’s surgery had not gone as planned. The day was beautiful & I just wanted to be outdoors. Little did we know he was rapidly slipping away.

If there’s anything I’m taking from the last conversation he & I had was “to stop wasting time, mija” like he would say. And you know what, Tio? You were so right.

In Loving Memory of Roberto Perez, RIP my angel ❤.

Lace n’ Booties | Fall Ready

My favorite time of the year is approaching and with summer coming to an end (well sorta if you live in S. FL), I thought I’d quickly share how to transition your favorite summer pieces to your fall attire.

For starters, we have this lightweight ivory kimono with lace detailing all around. I gravitate towards anything lace-related but especially for fall! This season we’re seeing lace on all sorts of garments and gorgeous kimono cardigans. Pair it with a neutral top and a statement necklace to elongate the neck area. If you didn’t hop on the boyfriend jeans train earlier this year, get yourself a pair asap! Boyfriend jeans are not only stylish for fall but extra comfy. You can always unfold the lower hem if you like more of a full-length denim look.

Of course it wouldn’t be fall without a pair of booties, right? These peep-toe booties here were a bargain and the most comfortable ever. For shorties like myself, a little heel is always necessary 😉

Fall Lipstick Faves ❤

Fall is probably my favorite season when it comes to fashion & beauty. Normally I turn to mauves, browns, & berry shades which are popular during the season. I wanted to share some gorgeous lipsticks that are not only great additions to your makeup collection but perfect for fall! What I love most about all of these is that they can be worn for a daytime or evening look. There might be just one that’s a little daring for the day, but why not?! Own it! Here are the 5 Fall Lipstick Must-Haves!

  • Nōyah “Deeply in Mauve: I received this cute little lipstick in my Ipsy Glam Bag and I haven’t been able to put it down. It is a rich mauve color with a nice creamy finish (not glossy). This is a great everyday color if you like a subtle lip. After 2 applications, it turns into a deep mauve on me.
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in “Sassy Mauve: this is a beautiful mauve color with more of a purple undertone. Depending on your skin complexion, the color can look a little pinkish or have more hints of purple. This lipstick has a sheen to it which means there’s a bit of frost (tiny bit) with a creamy finish.
  • Milani Color Statement Lipstick in “Black Cherry: I had been wanting to get my hands on this particular color for sooo long! It is truly stunning! (Check out my Funkshion post below to see pics on how to wear for a night out). This is a deep berry, perfect for days you are feeling bold. If you have trouble working with rich dark colors like this one, I highly suggest using a lip liner first. Black Cherry also has a nice creamy finish (no sheen/gloss)
  • MAC “Cherish: a gorgeous nude-brown that I’ve raved about for years. If you stay away from nude lipsticks because they wash you out, this is the nude for you! Goes great with any look because it is nude enough to keep your lips looking alive. This is a satin lipstick but I recommend dabbing some lip balm before applying to avoid drying.
  • MAC “Rebel: if you haven’t swatched this color before….I’m not sure what you are waiting for! Really? This is a beautiful berry/pink lipstick shade with a satin finish as well. I find that on me it leaves a glossy finish and it looks more like a deep fuschia if I’m on the tanner side. I have worn this color when I was a bit lighter in complexion and the color looked like a dark plum (weird..I know). Using a lip liner before is highly suggested.
My lips are naturally really pigmented, I always have to mute out my lips
with powder before applying any lip product
Deeply in Mauve
Sassy Mauve
Black Cherry
(took this one without flash to really get the color pigmentation)

Either of these are a great option for work or school. Makeup is about having fun! Go out and try these shades! Share what colors you like the most in the comment section below..
